Lyn is former leader of the Australian Democrats. Her involvement with mental health began in 2005 when she co-authored a study into progress of reform in mental health following the Burdekin inquiry.
Lyn chaired the Democrats-initiated Senate Mental Health Inquiry, which handed down its reports in early 2006, leading to a COAG agreement and an additional $4 billion spent on mental health. She initiated a follow up inquiry, which tabled its interim report in June 2008.
Lyn is a Director of Accountability Round Table Board and chair of several not-for-profit conservation organisations.
