Marilys is Associate Dean Learning and Teaching in the Faculty of Medicine Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne and is responsible for learning and teaching strategy and its implementation in the Faculty.
Marilys is a Professor and health sociologist at the University of Melbourne. She has conducted research and published widely in the areas of sociology of health, illness and technology, innovative research methodologies, research practice, narrative ethics and ethical practice in research and in healthcare.
Marilys is also the Academic Lead for the University of Melbourne's SAGE (Science in Australia Gender Equity) Athena SWAN initiative.
