Youth Advisory Council Member

Kirsten lives in South-West Sydney and is studying a Bachelor of Social Science, majoring in child and community studies, and sub-majoring in criminology. Throughout her studies she has developed a keen interest in social justice and hopes to pursue a career within child and youth welfare and protection.

After seeking help for her own mental health, she quickly grew interest and passion for mental health advocacy and became part of the Youth Reference Group at my local headspace centre. In 2017, she received a volunteer of the year award for the State of Werriwa NSW for her volunteer work at headspace.

Coming from a very diverse and multicultural community, Kirsten is very passionate about working to change the stigma of mental health amongst culturally and linguistically diverse communities and is a strong advocate for improving the mental health of the LGBTQIA+ community. She hopes that being part of the Youth Advisory Council will allow her to build upon her passions within youth mental health.
