Youth Advisory Council Member

Abi grew up in the small town of Yeppoon, land of the Darumbal people. She currently lives in Brisbane, Queensland where she studies a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Political Science and International Relations at the University of Queensland. Abi currently works as the State Director of People and Culture for the One Woman Project and with the Queensland Youth Parliament as a mentor. Volunteering extensively in her hometown, Abi has been named as one of the Leading Ladies in Livingstone in 2017.

Abi is incredibly passionate about increasing access to mental health services for regional and rural youth. She hopes to use her own experiences to create awareness and fix gaps in clinical services and to reduce stigma associated with mental ill-health. Abi is an advocate for an intersectional, holistic approach to youth mental health.

Seeing the toll that mental-ill health had on both her own family as well as her broader community motivated her to become an advocate on this issue. Now, Abi hopes to combine her passions for politics and youth mental health to create real impact of the experiences of those impacted by mental ill-health. ‚Äč
