Amber Weller is a Policy Research Assistant and a Clinical Trials Project Manager at Orygen.
In her current role in the Policy team Amber develops content for policy papers, drafts submissions and advice and advocates for quality youth-specific mental health care for young people across Australia.
Amber completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology) and Graduate Diploma of Psychology at Deakin University before joining Orygen in 2012 as a research assistant on a multi-centre randomised controlled trial (RCT). Amber has worked on a number of RCTs, most recently as a Project Manager on an RCT investigating a dose reduction strategy for antipsychotic treatment in first episode psychosis.
Amber is in her final year of her Masters of Public Health at Deakin University, with plans to finish her thesis in October 2019, on the experiences of transgender and gender diverse young people and their service providers at headspace. She is passionate about youth mental health, improvements in support and services for vulnerable groups such as the trans and gender diverse community.
