Assessing ultra high risk (UHR) of psychosis: CAARMS

The Comprehensive Assessment of At Risk Mental State (CAARMS) training package is designed to enable mental health professionals and researchers to gain confidence in using it to:

  • identify young people who are at ultra-high risk (UHR) of developing psychosis
  • track a range of psychopathology over time
  • identify the onset of first episode psychosis.

Audience: mental health clinicians and researchers working with young people.

Overview of training:

  • why early intervention in psychosis is important
  • at risk mental state and UHR
  • CAARMS tool and scoring
  • aims of assessment
  • practise using and scoring the CAARMS to ensure inter-rater reliability. 

Length of training: one day training, which is suitable for virtual or face-to-face delivery.
