Professor Patrick McGorry

Professor Patrick McGorry is the Executive Director of Orygen, Professor of Youth Mental Health at the University of Melbourne, and a Founding Director of the National Youth Mental Health Foundation (headspace). He is a world-leading researcher in the area of early psychosis and youth mental health, and has been directly involved in research and clinical care for homeless people, refugees and asylum seekers.

Professor Andrew Chanen

Professor Andrew Chanen is Head, Personality Disorder Research at Orygen. Professor Chanen’s research, clinical and training interests lie in prevention and early intervention for severe mental disorders, principally personality disorders, along with mood and psychotic disorders.

Professor Ian Hickie

Professor Ian Hickie is Co-Director, Health and Policy at The University of Sydney’s Brain and Mind Centre and an NHMRC Senior Principal Research Fellow. Professor Hickie is an internationally renowned researcher in clinical psychiatry, with particular reference to medical aspects of common mood disorders, depression and bipolar disorder in young people, early intervention, use of new and emerging technologies and suicide prevention.

Dr Bridget Bassilios

Bridget Bassilios is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Mental Health and an independently practising clinical and health psychologist. Bridget has worked in mental health across various settings including research, evaluation, secondary consultation and direct service provision. Bridget is responsible for coordinating Part A of the mental health reform Lead Site Project evaluation.

Professor Mario Alvarez-Jimenez

Professor Mario Alvarez-Jimenez is Director, eOrygen. He has pioneered the use of online social media to foster long-term recovery in youth mental health. His research focus is on relapse prevention and psychosocial recovery in youth mental health through online social media, mobile-based interventions and new models of positive psychotherapy.

Dr Shane Cross

Dr Shane Cross is the Director of Clinical and Service Implementation on Project Synergy; a Clinical Researcher in the Youth Mental Health Research Team at the Brain and Mind Centre of The University of Sydney and a Senior Clinical Psychologist with 20 years’ experience in child, adolescent and young adult mental health across primary, secondary and tertiary service settings. For the past 10 years, he has worked in clinical leadership and management roles across 3 headspace services.

A clinical psychologist by background, Professor Miranda Wolpert is committed to understanding how best to support and evaluate effective service delivery to promote resilience and meet children and young people’s mental health needs. Her work focuses on improvement and prevention science combined with social entrepreneurship, and includes the development of online, digital and face-to-face tools and training resources for young people, carers and practitioners.
