Orygen is this year celebrating 25 years of progress in youth mental health. Over the coming months we will share our rich history and the global impact of our work as we head towards the opening of our new building later this year.
Twenty-five years is a significant milestone as it represents a period of transition and maturity, not just for young people but also for Orygen. To commemorate this achievement a new visual identity has been created which captures Orygen’s world leading position in youth mental health by symbolising progression, positivity and confidence.
It is impossible to reflect on the past without recognising the significant contributions and support from the University of Melbourne, the Colonial Foundation and Melbourne Health; as well as our many supporters and more importantly our staff – past and present - who have seen the evolution of Orygen.
Although Orygen has evolved over the past quarter century, the one constant has been a focus on helping young people to get well and stay well, aided by excellence in training, research and clinical care.
The next chapter in our history will be strongly influenced by the unification of Orygen, the National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health, with Orygen Youth Health Clinical Program. Integrating the two organisations will give us a strong base on which to strengthen and expand our ability to provide more seamless services to more young people and families locally and nationally.
Though progress has been made in our first 25 years, there is still much work to be done in youth mental health. We look forward to continuing to work with all of our supporters to ensure all young people experience optimal mental health as they grow into adulthood.
