 Vocational programs in the spotlight

Representatives from headspace were in Melbourne recently for a two-day Orygen conference focussed on developing and expanding specialised vocational support programs in headspace centres across Australia.

Staff from headspace centres who have implemented the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) vocational programs, and those interested in learning more about vocational programs, took part in a number of workshops that included presentations and interactive activities with key Orygen staff involved in vocational research and IPS programs.

Orygen’s national vocational services manager Gina Chinnery said the conference was a fantastic opportunity for Orygen and staff from headspace to collaborate and build on the work being done to support young people to find work.

“All young people deserve every opportunity to find employment,” Ms Chinnery said.

“A conference such as this allows us to come together to ensure we demonstrate best practice in the work we are doing, and that we are collectively working towards better vocational outcomes for young people across the country.”
