Since the centre opened its doors to young people and their families in 2008, approximately 7000 young people have accessed support for mental health, physical health, drug and alcohol and vocational issues.
Each year since opening, the team at Glenroy has provided services to an increasing number of young people, said Liz Burgat, director of clinical programs at Orygen, the lead agency for headspace Glenroy.
“headspace Glenroy has supported thousands of young people from across Melbourne’s west over the past 10 years; young people who might otherwise not have sought help,” Ms Burgat said.
Alison McRoberts, clinical services manager of headspace Glenroy, said it had been a privilege for her to work at headspace Glenroy, and paid tribute to the commitment and passion of staff, past and present. “I would also like to acknowledge the significant role our Youth Advisory Groups have played in shaping our centre. They keep us focussed on what really matters.”
