Orygen’s Scientific Work in Anorexia Nervosa and Other Eating Disorders (SWAN) Research Group and The University of Melbourne are delighted to be hosting the 4th biennial Body Image and Related Disorders (BIRD) conference.
This free online event will bring together leading local and international experts in the fields of body image and eating disorders to discuss the latest research and clinical practice.
The keynote speaker will be Associate Professor Kamryn T. Eddy from Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University who will present on understanding and targeting mechanisms of undereating across restrictive eating disorders from anorexia nervosa to avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder.
The conference will be held online on Friday, 17 November 2023, 9-2pm AEDT.

The conference will also feature invited presentations on a range of topics, including:
- the phenomenology of body image and eating disorders;
- the biology of body image and eating disorders;
- the treatment of body image and eating disorders; and
- the impact of body image and eating disorders on individuals, families, and communities
The conference is open to researchers, clinicians, service providers, individuals with lived experience of an eating disorder, carers/family/support people, and all interested persons within the community.
