Global leaders in eating disorders research will converge in Melbourne for the fifth biennial Body Image & Related Disorders (BIRD) conference held on Friday 7 November.
Hosted by Orygen’s eating disorders team, the event will bring together international and local experts to discuss the latest research.
Among several speakers, the international keynote will be delivered by Professor Pamela K. Keel, a global authority on eating disorders from Florida State University, who will present her research on weight suppression and eating disorder outcomes.
Deakin Distinguished Professor Felice Jacka OAM, a pioneer in the field of nutritional psychiatry, will deliver the national keynote address titled From Anxiety to Alzheimer’s: Nutritional psychiatry for the prevention and treatment of mental and brain disorders.
In addition, the conference will feature a series of presentations by leading local experts, covering topics that cover recent advancements in anorexia nervosa, innovations in treatment and evaluation for eating disorders, and emerging approaches across the body image and eating disorders spectrum.
The one-day hybrid event is hosted by the Scientific Work in Anorexia Nervosa & Other Eating Disorders (SWAN) Research Group at Orygen and the University of Melbourne with tickets for both in-person and online attendance available.
