Real talk: Masculinity and young men’s mental health

Mental ill-health in young men is increasing, but rigid notions of manhood prevent men from seeking help, and a lack of tailored support is not meeting their needs when they do. The report and policy plan, Real talk: Masculinity and young men’s mental health, details an 11-point policy plan to address these challenges.

The report and policy plan includes new data from a YouGov survey of almost 800 young men aged 16 to 25, of whom two thirds (76 per cent) felt that mental health outcomes could improve if supports were more tailored to them.
