BACKGROUND

In 2017 Orygen released the report Under the radar: the mental health of Australian university students which identified a lack of clear and consistent guidance regarding the role of universities to support mental health and wellbeing of students.

In response, the Australian Government Department of Health provided funding to Orygen to develop evidence-based guidance to universities to support good mental health and wellbeing.  The framework has been developed in consultation with stakeholders including university students, and representatives from universities, the mental health sector and government.
