In May 2026, Orygen was designated  as the World Health Organization's (WHO)  first ever Collaborating Centre for Young People's Mental Health, recognising our leadership in youth mental health research, innovation and care.

WHO Collaborating Centres are institutions recognised by WHO for their expertise in a particular area of health. They work with WHO to advance shared priorities, bringing together research, knowledge and practical experience to improve health outcomes around the world.

As a WHO Collaborating Centre, Orygen works with WHO and international partners to strengthen mental health systems and improve support for young people, with a focus on:

  • Sharing knowledge and expertise to support better youth mental health policy, services and care.
  • Building capacity by supporting organisations and communities to develop and deliver effective youth mental health initiatives.
  • Supporting innovation through research, collaboration and the implementation of evidence-based approaches.
  • Elevating young people's voices to ensure their experiences and perspectives help shape mental health responses.

The Orygen Global team leads Orygen’s work as a WHO Collaborating Centre, drawing on expertise from across the organisation and its international partnerships.
