Rachel Tindall

Rachel is a senior mental health nurse, executive leader, and researcher with over 16 years’ experience advancing mental health system reform across Australia. As Chief of National Programs at Orygen, she leads the national reform agenda for youth mental health, including the design, implementation, and evaluation of new specialist service models and platforms across Australia.

Prior to working at Orygen, Rachel held several senior leadership roles within Barwon Health, most recently as the Director of the Barwon Local Health Service Network. Across her career, she has led the design and implementation of major service reforms, including innovative models of care, mental health service redesign, and partnerships that improve access and responsiveness across the system.

A strong advocate for co-design and translational research, Rachel holds a PhD focused on service engagement in early psychosis and has an established track record of peer-reviewed publications spanning service innovation, engagement, and models of care. She holds an academic appointment with Deakin University and continues to contribute to research, supervision, and sector development.

Rachel is recognised for her ability to lead complex system change, working across government, health services, and community partners to design scalable, evidence-informed approaches to care. She is committed to strengthening clinical governance, workforce capability, service integration, and ensuring that the voices of young people and those with lived experience are central to system design.
