In this together: families and carers can ask

Professionals working with young people of multicultural backgrounds can empower families and carers to support a young person by an engaged and collaborative approach.

The In this together: families and carers can ask. Youth mental health and multicultural families’fact sheet encourages dialogue and promotes opportunities for clinicians and families to work together, and to build trust and engagement.

Questions are based on common concerns expressed by families and carers and information they wished they had known when a young person they supported needed mental health support. Space is provided for families to add their own questions if they are not already listed.

The resource also includes information on key gateway mental health organisations for families and carers to access and a translation service.

Families and carers can be supported through the use of this resource to ask their questions of services when a young person they support is accessing mental health support.

The In this together: families and carers can ask, unpacked webinar hears from specialist family workers and specialist family peer workers about key approaches and values that guide collaborative work with multicultural families.
