Personality disorder

Personality disorder

Personality disorder is a mental health condition that impacts a person's thoughts, feelings, perceptions, and behaviours. This can make it difficult for them to adapt to or respond to day-to-day tasks or experiences. Personality disorder leads to challenges in how the person relates to themselves (e.g. sense of identity), and how they have relationships with others.

There is no single cause or reason why someone might have personality disorder; it usually comes about due to a mix of biological, environmental, and psychological factors.

Getting help early for personality disorder can help young people learn to manage their symptoms and address other social, work or educational challenges that they may be facing.
