Statement of Commitment
Orygen acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands we are on and pays respect to their Elders past and present. Orygen recognises and respects their cultural heritage, beliefs and relationships to their ancestral lands, which continue to be important to The First Nations Peoples living today.
One of the ways Orygen demonstrate our commitment to First Nations Peoples is through staff professional development. Orygen staff are required to complete Cross Cultural Capacity Training delivered by Marumali Consultations. The training aims to assist staff to better understand the complexities of working from a holistic wellbeing framework in the area of youth mental health.
While largely using Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture as the backbone for highlighting the importance of culture to wellbeing and wellbeing service, the training assists staff to better understand and work with youth from many multicultural backgrounds.
