Orygen’s Fundraising team was last night presented with the 2018 Fundraising Institute of Australia’s Capital Campaign Award and Most Outstanding Fundraising Project Award.
Dan Kneipp, who leads the fundraising team at Orygen, The National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health, was presented with the awards in acknowledgment of his work in raising the final $8 million needed to fund a vital redevelopment of Orygen’s facilities.
“We are extremely grateful to our funders and what their generous contributions allow us to achieve,” Mr Kneipp said. “In this case, our new facility will transform the way we work and further enable us to achieve our mission to help our young people to get well and stay well.
“I’d also like to acknowledge the teamwork that went into this campaign, and especially that of Adrien Powning, Anthia Mirawidya and Sarah Jane Haywood for their support and for making this possible,” he said. “Professor Patrick McGorry and some senior research staff were wonderful support and attended a lot of meetings, but there was also a lot of people behind the scenes who made this possible and helped us get the last bit of funding for the building.”
The awards recognise the outstanding initiatives and innovative efforts of fundraisers, volunteers and organisations, specifically in relation to funding capital campaigns; and also the most outstanding project across all categories.
Once complete, Orygen’s new facilities will be used to provide clinical facilities for up to 5,000 young people per year, and house research and training facilities that will expand Orygen’s world-leading innovation and training services through the conduct of clinical research trials and the provision of training programs available to thousands of clinicians.
