Expressions of interest: youth steering group for suicide prevention study

Recent suicide prevention research has shown that young people often feel they don’t belong, or that they are a burden to others.

So Orygen researchers are developing an online therapy program that aims to help young people feel a greater sense of belonging, and reduce feelings of being a burden.

The program will be tested to see if it works, via a randomised controlled trial called Affinity.

Establishing a youth steering group

Before Orygen launches the Affinity trial, researchers want input from other young people who have had feelings of being a burden, not fitting in, or suicidal ideation.

If you’re a young person aged 15–25 who has had these experiences, please consider joining our youth steering group (YSG).

Your contributions will help improve the therapeutic materials used in the trial and ensure that information supplied to trial participants is appropriate.

For more details of who we’re looking for, what being a member of the YSG will involve, and how to lodge your expression of interest, click here.

The opportunity to participate will close at 5pm AEST, 27 June 2022.
