Mental health programs in schools help students cope with anxiety and depression

A new Orygen study has found that mental health programs can be effective in reducing anxiety and depression in high school students.

The research team looked at the results of 14 systematic reviews of studies on mental health programs in secondary schools.

The study found that targeted programs, designed for specific groups of students at risk of developing mental ill-health, were generally more effective than programs designed for all students.

The researchers concluded that mental health programs could be an effective way to reduce anxiety and depression in high school students, but more research was needed to understand the long-term effects of these programs and to identify the factors that could influence their effectiveness.
