Associate Professor Brian O’Donoghue is a Consultant Psychiatrist and deputy Medical Lead with the Early Psychosis Prevention and Intervention Centre (EPPIC) and a Principal Research Fellow with the Centre of Youth Mental Health.

Brian’s clinical and research lie in the improving the physical and sexual health of young people affected by mental health disorders. His other research interests include evaluating novel treatments for psychotic disorders and studying environmental risk factors for psychotic disorders, such as migration, substance use and social deprivation and their impact on outcomes.

Brian is currently leading a randomized controlled trial in evaluating the effects of a physical health nurse in the care of young people experiencing a first episode of psychosis. He is an investigator on three NHMRC funded randomized controlled trials. Brian was the recipient of a NHMRC Early Career Research Fellowship in 2018.

Brian is an associate editor of the Irish Journal of Psychological Medicine and is a reviewer for local and international scientific journals.
