SIncere study

SIncere study

Developing resources to support social inclusion-focused care for people with mental ill health.

WHAT IS THE STUDY ABOUT?

The term ‘social inclusion’ means being able to participate in society in ways that are important and meaningful to you. This can include living in a safe and stable home, having enough money to support yourself, spending your time on work, school, or activities you enjoy, and having good relationships with family and friends. The opposite of this is ‘social exclusion’. This happens when challenges stop you from fully taking part in these important areas of life.

The SIncere project is led by researchers at Orygen who want to understand how best to support people experiencing social exclusion as part of their mental health care. The goal is to create practical resources that help mental health and wellbeing services better address social inclusion in their work.

To make sure the resources are relevant and useful, the researchers are seeking input from people with lived experience of mental health challenges, their carers, and staff working at mental health and wellbeing services across Australia.

The results of this research will directly help efforts to improve mental healthcare for people experiencing social disadvantage.
