The Whole-Of-Self Affirming Care Project

The Whole-Of-Self Affirming Care Project

We are talking with trans and gender diverse young people and health care providers to understand their perspectives on how services can provide whole-of-self affirming care.

Our goal is to generate knowledge and create practical tools that can help services to deliver the best possible care – which allows trans and gender diverse young people to feel comfortable and safe to express their whole self.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You can take part if you are a:

  • trans or gender diverse young person (age 12 – 25) living in Australia, who has experienced disadvantages because of systems that exclude or create barriers for people whose experiences are different to the ‘mainstream’ majority. This might be because you are a person of colour, neurodivergent, live with a disability, or for another reason.
  • health professional with experience working with trans and gender diverse young people with intersectional experiences of disadvantage.

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

This research involves a one-hour interview to share your perspective on whole-of-self affirming care. If you are a young person, the interview will be facilitated by a peer researcher who identifies as trans or gender diverse.

Everyone who takes part in this research will be reimbursed for their time.

The study is a partnership between University of Melbourne, Orygen, headspace, Transcend Australia, Trans Gender Victoria, Australian GLBTIQ Multicultural Council, and Centre for Multicultural Youth. It is funded by the Medical Research Future Fund.
