Medical interventions in early psychosis for clinicians

Length of Module

This module will take approximately 90 to 120 minutes to complete.

About

Non-medical clinicians, such as case managers/coordinators, are an integral part of delivery of early psychosis care and are often the main source of information about medical treatments that young people and families turn to. They can also be the first to hear of any side effects or difficulties adhering to medication the young person may be experiencing. For these reasons, non-medical clinicians need to have a practical knowledge of the medical interventions used in early psychosis, including their role in symptomatic and functional recovery.

This module will assist non-medical clinicians to develop the necessary skills so that treatment is delivered competently and confidently. Participants will gain a working knowledge of the medical interventions that may be prescribed to young people who access early psychosis services.

Suitable for

Clinicians and researchers who work with young people in mental health services, primary care settings and other areas of health and human services.
